WE HAVE OPTIONS TO  SUIT YOUR SPECIFIC NEEDS

Emergency Medical Technician

PRIDEStar EMS EMT Academy offers initial EMT Training Courses that meet and exceed the requirements for state and national EMT certification.

We approach training with emphasis on excellence in patient care, encouraging students to think critically, to make sound medical decisions, maintain technical skills, and to work in a professional environment that promotes life long learning.

Our Programs are presented through a series of lecture, lab and clinical observation experiences. Through clinical and practical instruction as well as observation time, you'll be prepared to function in the uncontrolled environment of emergency medicine in the pre-hospital setting. Our staff is eager to teach and mentor you the student. We care committed to helping you successfully prepare for the certification exam. You will have the opportunity to work with simulation mannequins and benefit from instructors with extensive field experience in Emergency Medical Services and other settings - knowledge they apply to the classroom.

EMT/Paramedic Continuing Education

In July 2013 Massachusetts adopted both the U. S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) National EMS Scope of Practice Model (National Scope), and NHTSA's National EMS Education Standards, which sets training standards based on the National Scope.  Together, these standards have changed the scope of practice and training requirements for all Massachusetts EMS providers.

There are three components of the National Registry Continued Competency Program (NCCP)

1.  NATIONAL Continued Competency Requirements (NCCR)

2.  LOCAL Continued Competency Requirements (LCCR)

3.  INDIVIDUAL Continued Competency Requirements (ICCR)

NATIONAL Continued Competency Requirements (NCCR) are determined by the NREMT Board of Directors and comprises 50% of the overall requirements necessary to recertify.

LOCAL Continued Competency Requirements (LCCR) are developed and delivered at the local EMS level.  In Massachusetts, at this time, the LOCAL requirements have yet to be defined.  Examples of classes that meet this requirement include MOLST, Blood Bourne Pathogens, Statewide Treatment Protocol Updates, and Point of Entry.

INDIVIDUAL Continued Competency Requirements (ICCR) are determined by the individual.  Currently EMTS may choose any EMS related education to satisfy this requirement.  In the future the ICCR may be based on outcomes of a self-assessment guide, which is offered at no additional fee as part of the recertification process.  The results of the assessment are provided to the individual EMS provider and de-identified, aggregate data to Training Officers to help assess areas of remediation.  If no deficiencies are indicated the provider may select any EMS related education for the ICCR component.
